Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)

The Mine Safety and Health Act requires certification training under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration regulations for those who work at underground and surface mines.  This training involves an initial 24-hour hazard awareness class and an 8-hour annual refresher for those who work on mine property. Employees requiring this training would be those working at quarries, Portland cement manufacturing facilities, cement batch plants, and any surface mines where aggregates are extracted for the construction industry.
