ASBESTOS ABATEMENT WORKER (INITIAL TRAINING)

The 40-hour Asbestos Abatement Worker course focuses on identification and sampling methods of asbestos abatement workplaces. The health effects of occupational exposure to asbestos and workplace regulations are essential topics covered in the class. There are group activities that provide instruction on building temporary containment structures and utilizing negative air pressure in containment areas to accomplish simulated abatement techniques, including wet removal methods, encapsulation, building enclosures, and the use of glove bags. The use of personal protective equipment and engineering controls are emphasized. There is a fee provided to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from the Training Fund after the successful completion of the course. Certification is only valid for one year from the successful completion of the class.
